Hon. Justice Stephen Adah

Born on July 30, 1957, in Dekina, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1982 after completing his law studies at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.

His Lordship began his judicial career in 1983 when he was appointed a Magistrate Grade II, marking the start of his long and distinguished service in the Nigerian judiciary. He rose to the rank of Chief Magistrate in 1990 in the then Benue State, and was one of the pilot judges involved in the reform of the Area Court System in 1985.

In March 1991, Hon. Justice Adah joined the Federal Judicial Service as Deputy Chief Registrar (DCR) and Admiralty Marshal (substitute), where he served for approximately seven years. His remarkable contributions to the legal field earned him a judicial appointment as a Judge of the Federal High Court on November 12, 1998.

After 14 years of exemplary service, he was elevated to the Court of Appeal on November 5, 2012, where he continued his distinguished service until his elevation to the Supreme Court of Nigeria on February 26, 2024.

Hon. Justice Adah’s career has been marked by integrity, diligence, and a commitment to justice. His leadership and contributions were acknowledged when he was appointed Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry into the activities of the Plateau State Government from 2007 to 2015. He was also a member of the five-man panel that determined the 2003 Presidential Election while serving at the Court of Appeal.

A devout Christian with a deep passion for equity, fairness, and justice, Hon. Justice Adah has actively participated in various legal courses and workshops both in Nigeria and abroad. He has received numerous awards and is known for mentoring young lawyers and judges.

Hon. Justice Adah enjoys reading, traveling, and football, and remains dedicated to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served.
